STEP-BY-STEP INTERACTIVE DRUM TRAINING

DRUMSCAMMERBPM PROXY

ARE YOU ACTUALLY HAPPYWITH YOUR PLAYING?

Start with THIS foundation.

Learn to improvise instead of recycling the same memorized patterns.

WHY IS LEARNING DRUMS SUCH A HASSLE?

ENDLESS MATERIAL.
WHERE DO YOU START?

01

Thousands of lessons, methods, courses and breakdowns. Everything’s available. Now you just need a course to work out which courses you need.

NOW TRY TO
ACTUALLY PRACTICE.

02

Notation books. Scrubbing through YouTube. Getting to a studio. Working around your teacher’s schedule.

All that work. And you haven’t played a note yet.

WHAT IF YOUTUBE GOES DARK?

Your teacher moved away.
No new lessons.

Are you really going to spend your life waiting for someone to write your next fill?

Maybe learn what fills are actually made of?

Just 4 questions

Everything you play comes down to this.

01

When do you hit?

Timing

02

With what do you hit?

Coordination

03

Where do you hit?

Orchestration

04

How hard do you hit?

Dynamics

You could spend a lifetime answering these four questions.

Or spend a lifetime buying someone else’s answers.

WHY DO YOU NEED BAZA?

To build rhythmic literacy and free control of all four limbs.

  1. W-01 · 4:5
    01

    Rhythmic vocabulary

You learn new combinations of strokes, rests and accents. Not just to repeat them, but to use them freely.

  2. W-02 · 4:5
    02

    Limb independence

You get used to hand and foot combinations that used to fall apart. Gradually even complex ones feel as natural as the familiar ones.

  3. W-03 · 4:5
    03

    Decisions on the fly

Your usual fills already come out on autopilot. Here you widen your options: change the pattern mid-groove, move accents, combine hand and foot parts in different ways.

  4. W-04 · 4:5
    04

    Improvisation

More and more often, instead of your usual licks, you play something new, made up on the spot. Sometimes what you just played surprises even you.

W-05 · 4:5

Or you can keep running the same three trusty fills.

They’ll never let you down. And they’ll never surprise anyone either.

There’s a system to it.

How does it work?

Take one pattern. Keep the foundation. Change one thing at a time.

Pick a pattern.

Stickings from Stick Control.

R — right. L — left.

Show the stickings

Start with a linear pattern shared between two limbs. We use the tried-and-tested ones:

Sixteenth notes
  • Singles
  • Doubles
  • Inverted Doubles
  • Paradiddles
  • Inverted Paradiddles
  • Quads
Dotted eighth notes
  • Singles
  • Doubles

  • Quads
Triplets

  • Double-Single
  • Single-Double
  • Doubles
  • Triples
  • Wholes
Work through the variations.

Using Benny Greb’s rhythm alphabet.

Filled cell = accent.

Complete the series.

Work through the variations in order. Then take the next sticking and follow the same process.

You always know what you’re training on: timing, coordination, dynamics or orchestration.

You start recognizing familiar pieces in new patterns.

Polyrhythm obsessives, I haven’t forgotten you. 😈

A triplet grid. Eight more combinations. Same process.

Triplet grid

Another thousand exercises?

What a revolutionary idea.

STOP WONDERING WHAT TO PRACTICE TODAY.

Your next step is always right there.

Advanced courses:

Swing coordination

Keep a jazz swing pattern on the ride and a foot pulse on the hi-hat. Then practice independent snare and bass drum parts over the top.

Independence and freedom within the swing.

Double pedal, no mercy

Move the patterns to your feet. Work through double-pedal variations and combine them with independent hand parts.

Steady feet. Independent hands.

average rating
  • They make you think

Instead of ready-made fills, just some hand and foot combinations. So now I’m supposed to figure out what to play myself?

  • Where’s the half-hour of waffle?

Not one video of a teacher explaining an exercise for half an hour. They just show you what to do. I feel cheated.

  • Zero privacy

Was looking for a VPN so nobody could track me. Downloaded BPM Proxy. Started tapping rhythms on the table. They found me by the sound. Do not recommend.

  • Way too much freedom

Too much freedom. I’m used to being told what to play and when. Here, for some reason, they’re counting on me.

  • Suspiciously clear

The exercises are suspiciously clear. Four limbs, four questions. What am I even paying for? Where’s the secret signature method?

  • It’s not the app

I have no complaints about the app at all. But one star, because the author is an unpleasant guy.

  • Lost my Tuesdays

They promised independence. Now I don’t need my teacher anymore. I’d been going to him for ten years. Where am I supposed to go on Tuesdays now?

  • Family destroyed

My wife asked me to install a VPN for her. I mixed up the apps. A month later she’d mastered limb independence and stopped depending on me altogether.

  • My neighbour plays better

Practised at night on a pillow so I wouldn’t bother anyone. A month later my downstairs neighbour started banging on my floor in paradiddles. And he’s steadier than me.

Who should probably skip this

THIS FOUNDATION ISN’T FOR EVERYONE.

  1. You want to play exactly like your teacher.

Does the world really need two of the same drummer?

  2. You like ready-made answers.

Come up with something yourself? Sounds suspiciously like work.

  3. You play to impress.

Just hope nobody notices it’s the same fill again.

Still here? Let’s keep going.

NOW COMPARE THE COST.

What does one lesson with your teacher cost? Here, — covers a whole month of practice.

FAQ

Still have questions?

Message support →
Is Baza only for beginners?

Baza means what everything is built from, not “easy mode”. A simple pattern becomes a serious challenge when you change limbs, accents and instruments. Start slowly and find where your usual control runs out.

I already know a paradiddle. Why bother?

Test how freely you can use it. Can you split it between a hand and a foot, add an independent part with your other hand, then change the accents? That freedom is what we train.

Then why swing and double bass?

They apply the same Baza to specific challenges: swing or two feet. The rhythmic language stays the same. Different tasks, familiar principles.

Am I buying Baza or a subscription?

A BPM Proxy subscription, with Baza included. Current plans are available on the checkout page.

Can I turn off renewal?

Yes, in your access settings. Access continues until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
